A question we get asked a lot is 'what is a Community Interest Company?'

A Community Interest Company is a bit like a Social Enterprise. We raise money to help a specific community through a business model, rather than relying on donations and funding like a charity or non-profit might. We chose this model because we have experience in business, and know that there is a lot that we can do to help others using our specific experience and skill set.

A standard corporate business model often means that a few people at the top get very rich, and workers at the bottom of the chain are often on minimum or low wages. With our community interest company, the workers hierarchy may be the same structure, but we promise to keep wages fair, and in proportion to the responsibility of the roles. With our company, there will not be a few people at the top who get rich. As money comes into the company, it then goes back out to artists, other organisations and eventually we hope to create our own funds to give back to those who need it.

We want to be completely transparent about wild & kinds finances. We're at the beginning of our journey, so right now there's not a huge amount to say, but as the business grows we'll keep this page up to date. You can contact us at any time to enquire about

As a start up, we currently have no employees. When we do, we vow to always pay the living wage.
Right now, there are 2 people involved in the running of Wild & Kind; Trudi Lang and Megan Ansdell. We currently do not take a wage, all of our time is donated to ensure that the business can be a success.
All artists involved are paid for their illustrations (unless they have chosen to donate work to raise money for a charity) and receive 10% of the sale of products. As we grow as a business, we hope to increase this percentage.

Grants and Funding
In December 2017 we received £5000 from First Port's 'Start It' Social Entrepreneurs Fund. This fund was specifically to help us get things started, by helping towards the cost of renting our studio, building a website, branding and marketing to help towards buying materials and equipment.
